Mike is the company’s principal planner with over three decades experience. On a day to day basis, he manages many of the company’s more complex large-scale projects and is regularly called upon by Local Government to undertake independent planning reviews and policy formulation.
Before establishing Ryan Planning, Mike gained professional experience working with some of Sydney’s largest councils in a number of senior executive roles including Director of Planning & Strategy at Warringah Council (now Northern Beaches) and as Deputy City Planner at Bankstown Council (now Canterbury Bankstown).
He received a Bachelor Urban & Regional Planning from Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia in 1981 and a Post Graduate Certificate Public Sector Management from Griffith University, Queensland in 1995.
Between 2004 and 2015, Mike was a sessional academic lecturer at the University of NSW teaching Development Process in the Bachelor of Planning and Master of City Planning degrees.
Mike is currently a permanent member of the Sydney Central Planning Panel (previously JRPP) and the Strathfield Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel (SIHAP).
